Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek started her career in television as a soap opera star in Mexico. The soap opera entitled Teresa, was the name of the character whom she portrayed. Thinking there are better things for her, she ventured into Los Angeles even without knowing how to speak English. After taking lessons with Stella Adler, she knew that she can do it. In 1995, she played opposite Antonio Banderas in the movie Desperdo. Apparently, the American audience was captivated of her exotic beauty. From then on, her career took a good turn. Projects started to come in and at last, the break of her life came when she co-produced the movie Frida. In the movie, Salma played the role of Frida, a Mexican artist. Proving herself she can do it, she earned an Academy Award nomination for the portrayal. Salma was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. She is now expecting her first child with her French businessman fiance.
